Donda West Plastic Surgeon Quits Medicine

The plastic surgeon who operated on rapper/producer Kanye West's mother Donda West a day before she died surrendered his medical license yesterday, according to reports. Dr. Jan Adams surrendered his license a year and a half after Donda West's died of heart failure for which "multiple post-operative factors could have played a role."

The Medical Board of California sought to revoke or suspend Adams' license prior to West's death because of multiple alcohol-related convictions, but the doctor, whose license has been suspended since June 2008, voluntarily gave up his right to practice medicine in California. The surgeon was arrested following his last suspension on suspicion of drunk driving in Solano County, Calif. He pleaded no contest to a charge of driving and began a 365-day jail sentence on Feb. 6.
