Don Cornelius Style Evolution: ‘Soul Train’ Host Gets Photo Tribute
As the creator and host of the long-running TV show 'Soul Train,' Don Cornelius didn't just bring us the best in R&B, funk, hip-hop and pop. The music legend -- found dead earlier today of an apparent suicide -- was also a snazzy dresser, and looking back at photos from throughout his career, one gets a clear picture of how black fashion evolved from the '70s onward.
The folks over at Urban Daily have put together a photo timeline tracing Cornelius' 'Style Evolution,' and the 10 images present a larger-than-life figure not afraid to go big -- check out those mighty afros and crazy-wide lapels and neckties -- in the name of looking good.
From 1970 to 1993, Cornelius served as conductor on the "Hippest Trip in America," and along the way, he always looked the part.
