The second season of the hit series, Dear White People premiered on Netflix yesterday, much to the delight of fans. Actress/writer Lena Waithe will be featured this season as well, adding to the expectation for the Justin Simien-helmed series that tackles race issues in a college setting.

The Grio caught up with the cast, and of course, asked them about Kanye West and his recent ode to "free thinking," love of Donald Trump, and idea that slavery was a choice.

Logan Browning, who stars as Sam White, on the series said she has "compassion" for Kanye and thinks his recent comments are because he's "injured."

“The true thing is I have compassion for Kanye in my heart because I see that he is injured,” Browning said. “I see that he is literally suffering and he doesn’t know how to express that. He’s an artist, that’s true but the way he’s going about it is to the detriment of other people.”

Marque Richardson, who plays Reggie Green on the show, was a little more to the point.

“Dear Kanye, take care of yourself. That’s all I got,” he said. “We have no idea what he’s going through, so just take care of yourself.”

Kanye is current taking care of himself on a mountaintop in Wyoming, where he's reportedly finishing up the music that he plans on dropping soon, including Pusha T's much-anticipated album, King Push, on May 25.  He's also featured on a new song with Travis Scott and Lil Uzi Vert, "Watch," which dropped earlier today.
