Common, Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique and More Perform at Ferguson Is Everywhere Concert to Honor Mike Brown [VIDEO]

Hip-hop has always been a voice for the people, so it's only natural for some of the best socially-conscious rappers to head to Ferguson, Mo., for the one-year anniversary of Michael Brown Jr's death to keep his memory alive and the #BlackLivesMatter movement going strong.

Rappers such as Common, Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder, Rapsody, Bun B, Immortal Technique and M-1 from Dead Prez performed at the Ferguson Is Everywhere concert, which was part of the United We Fight commemorative activities to makr the one-year anniversary of Brown's tragic shooting.

Although the event was free, donations were being accepted for Brown's family. On Aug. 9, 2014, the 18-year-old was shot and killed by a police officer a year ago. His death sparked a vigorous debate about the relationship between law enforcement and African Americans in the U.S.

Other artists such as This1, Kendra Ross, Tef Poe, Jasiri X and Nappy DJ Needles performed at the show, which was hosted by Hands Up United's Tory Russell.

Kweli performed the love song "Two and Two," while M-1 from Dead Prez hit the stage for his classic "Hip Hop." Bun B also came with some hitters: "Int'l Player's Anthem (I Choose You)" and "Thug in the Club."

But it was Common who had the most fitting songs. The Like Water for Chocolate creator performed "Be", "The People" and "The Corner." The latter two chronicle life in the streets while the former is an uplifting song to appreciate life. "The present is a gift and I just want to be," he on "Be."

Hip-hop also expressed their support for Ferguson and kept Brown's name alive on Twitter.

"#FergusonTaughtMe everything is just fine.........right?," tweeted Questlove of The Roots crew.

"Let's show the #Ferguson community that we stand with them! Send your message of solidarity + love using #DearFerguson!," tweeted Talib Kweli, who also asked Ferguson residents to stay safe and strong.
