Chance the Rapper is slated to honor the late Muhammad Ali during tonight’s ESPY Awards. He tweeted the news around 1am this morning (July 13.)

“I am honored to say I will be apart of a special tribute to the great Muhammad Ali at tomorrow nights #ESPYS," Chance tweeted, along with the rehearsal photo.

The ESPYs are held each year to honor both team and individual excellence in athletics such as Best Team, Best Female Athlete, and Best Championship Performance etc. Additionally, each year it features a memoriam segment to honor sports heroes we’ve lost in the past year.

The Chicago spitter’s tribute to Ali comes nearly a month after the boxing legend's death. Many in the hip-hop community expressed condolences via social media but this will be the first televised hip-hop-related commemoration for the icon. Mike Tyson and Will Smith were among those who attended Ali's hometown funeral.

Most of the details have not been made public, however, ESPN has dropped a few hints as to what we can expect for the overall awards such as a special presentation by Justin Timberlake for retired athletes Abby Wambach, Kobe Bryant, and Peyton Manning. The ESPYs will air Wednesday night at 8 ET on ABC.

This tribute is another high-profile gig for Chance the Rapper, who has been enjoying a pretty big 2016. His Magnificent Coloring World Tour kicks off Sept.15 in San Diego, CA and continues throughout the U.S. and Canada till it closes off back in California — in San Francisco, CA on Oct. 21.; and he's co-headlining the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in October alongside Kanye West.

Let us know if you’ll be tuning in to watch the ESPYs!
