
Chance The Rapper in Talks to Host Russell Simmons’ ‘Def Poetry Jam’ Reboot
Chance The Rapper is one of hip-hop’s hardest working artists and the Chicago rapper may now be adding another job to his resume.
According to a tweet from Russell Simmons, a reboot of HBO’s Def Poetry Jam may be in the works and Simmons wants hire chance as the host.
“Super excited. Been negotiation with @chancetherapper to host Def poetry jam for HBO. !!! Would you guys like to see that #Emmys,” he tweeted.
A spin-off of the popular Def Comedy Jam, the show originally premiered in 2002 and ran until 2007. Hosted by Mos Def, the series featured a mix of famous and up-and-coming poets as well as celebrities such as Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Mike Epps, Tracey Morgan and Dave Chappelle.
