Bruno Mars Talks ‘Live at the Apollo’ TV Special: ‘I Wanted to Create a Vibe’
Bruno Mars' upcoming CBS special, Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo, has yet to air, but if it's anything like the singer explains, it will be an amazing show.
Set to air on Nov. 29, the special was already recorded and Mars has already seen it a number of times. Speaking with Billboard, the singer said he didn't want the program to be a boring television show where he sings three songs and then goes to a commercial and comes back for three more songs.
"The band and I wanted to create a vibe that translates what we felt at the Apollo Theater. As soon as we walked in there, we said this is the only place to do this special," said Mars. "Hopefully, the audience will feel that vibe at home.”
The singer also wanted the audience to represent Harlem, so he padded out tickets to people in the community. “We wanted everybody in the community to come out to the show,” he said. “So we passed out tickets as we met people in different locations. You’ll see them in the audience at the Apollo.”
