T’Challa continues his mighty reign atop the box office heap. Disney-Marvel’s Black Panther raked in another impressive $65.7 million at the U.S. box office in its third weekend.

Domestically, the superhero tentpole movie has grossed $500 million at theaters, according to comScore, which tracks box office receipts. Along with a massive $122 million weekend gross overseas, Black Panther has now reached $897.7 million at the worldwide box office.

The Chadwick Boseman-starrer is about to become the fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to cross the $900 million mark behind The Avengers at $1.52 billion, Avengers: Age of Ultron at $1.4 billion, Iron Man 3 at $1.2 billion and Captain America: Civil War at $1.15 billion.

Two R-rated action flicks opened opposite Black Panther in the U.S. -- the spy thriller Red Sparrow and the Death Wish remake starring Bruce Willis. Both movies did well at the box office. Red Sparrow raked in $17 million at the box office while Death Wish pulled in $13 million.

Next weekend, another Disney film, A Wrinkle in Time, directed by Ava DuVernay will arrive in theaters nationwide. The fantasy children's film, starring Oprah Winfrey and Chris Pine, is another groundbreaking representation of African-Americans in front of and behind the camera.

“Disney wins no matter how you slice it with that film expected to have a strong debut as Black Panther continues to draw big crowds,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for comScore (via Time).

Salute to Ryan Coogler and Ava DuVernay for being trailblazers with their cinematic projects.
