Big Boi told Spin in a recent interview that he has an album in the works with Killer Mike.

The two have been longtime friends and collaborators, with Big Boi giving Mike his first big break on the Grammy-winning song, "The Whole World" back in 2001. Mike was also signed to Big's label, Purple Ribbon. Since then, the two had a short beef, made up, and now are apparently working on new music together.

This news is, of course, super exciting, particularly given the level of work the two have been putting in as of late. Big Boi is widely regarded as one o the most consistent, if not underrated emcees in rap and Killer Mike has claimed the top spot on many hip-hop fans' lists with his solo release, R.A.P. Music and his superior showings on the first and second albums of his group with El-P, Run the Jewels.

Now, as Killer Mike and El-P prep to release their third project (Mike previously said the project was coming in July but the date came and went with no music), the announcement that he also has a pending EP with Big Boi is big news. Big Boi says the idea had been circulating between the two of them for a while before they finally decided to act on it.

"We’ve been entertaining the idea for a long time and finally got enough songs to where we just said the other night that we’re gonna do it," he told the magazine.

While there's no solid release date for the EP, Big Boi said the album is already about half-way done. In the meantime, fans will get a chance to see them perform together at the anticipated Dungeon Family reunion, taking place in September at Atlanta's One MusicFest.

Here's hoping they preview some music there.
