Beastie Boys’ MCA & Whitney Houston Honored at Billboard Awards — Video
Sunday night's (May 20) 2012 Billboard Awards weren't just about handing out accolades. The ceremony was also a chance to honor some recently departed music superstars, chief among them Beastie Boys rapper Adam "MCA" Yauch and Whitney Houston.
The MCA tribute came compliments of Goodie Mob, the recently reunited group featuring Cee Lo Green. After performing their new jam "Fight to Win," the Adidas-rocking foursome segued into the Beasties classic "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party)." Rhymer Wiz Khalifa also sent his love to MCA, shouting him out before presenting LMFAO with the award for Best Duo/Group.
The Houston memorial was more somber, as the R&B great's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and sister-in-law Pat accepted the Millennium Award on her behalf. Following some words from Whoopi Goldberg, who said she "adored" the singer, John Legend and Jordin Sparks -- Houston's co-star in the film "Sparkle" -- teamed up for "I Will Always Love You."
Other icons remembered included Bee Gees member Robin Gibb, who died shortly before the ceremony and received a moment of silence, and disco diva Donna Summer.
