With a month before Empire resumes its second season, producers have added a new face to the show’s all-star cast. Actor-rapper Xzibit is set to guest star on Fox’s popular drama series as Lucious Lyon’s new rival.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Xzibit, whose real real name is Alvin Joiner, will play Leslie "Shyne" Johnson, who is described as "100% wolf and 100% gangster."

“He's managed artists, started record imprints and even sold a few units here and there, but his bread and butter has always been -- much to his frustration -- drugs, guns and extortion,” reads the character synopsis. “Feeling shut out by the other heavy-hitters in the music industry, he carries a big chip on his shoulder -- particularly for Lucious (Terrence Howard).

There’s no word on what episode he will appear in, but sources say Xzibit will appear in a multi-episode arc.

Although X to the Z is known for his rapping skills and his MTV series Pimp My Ride, he’s not new to the acting game. The 41-year-old Detroit native has appeared in such films as Gridiron Gang opposite Dwayne Johnson and xXx: State of the Union with Ice Cube and Samuel L. Jackson. Xzibit recently had a recurring on CBS’ hit series Hawaii Five-O.

For his part, it seems Xzibit is ready to bring the drama to Lucious’ world.

"Brother we about to tear it DOWN! I'm so excited to be involved!" he tweeted to a friend.

Empire returns with new episodes on March 30 at 9PM ET on Fox.
