One of R&B's most celebrated singers will have her story told in the Lifetime Original Movie 'Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B,' set to air Nov. 15. The movie chronicles the life and times of the late songbird, who died in a plane crash in August 2001.

The film features 23-year-old Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp playing the role of Aaliyah, which stands for "highest, most exalted one" in Swahili. From her controversial marriage to R. Kelly, to working with producer Timbaland, to her courtship with former Roc-A-Fella Records honcho Damon Dash, much of her life is explored.

"I'm the girl you want to bet on," Shipp, as Aaliyah, says in the trailer for the biopic. "I succeed at everything I put my mind to." Moments like this remind fans of the late singer's confidence in her career. The 60-second preview of the movie highlights her personal and professional triumphs and tribulations, giving a glimpse at what's sure to be a riveting performance by Shipp.
