Frank Ocean presented his good friend Rick Rubin with the "Legendary Genius" award at Spotify’s inaugural Secret Genius Awards on Nov. 1. The event honored producers and songwriters behind some of the highest-streaming songs on Spotify’s platform.

Honorees included hitmakers Max Martin, J Kash, Starrah, PARTYNEXTDOOR and others. But Rubin was given a special honor for his influential work and impact in the music culture.

Ocean was given the prestigious honor to present the "Legendary Genius" honor to the Def Jam co-founder. The Grammy-winning singer was brief with his introduction. He simply told Rubin, “Come get this thang!” The bearded producer walked across the stage grabbed his award and gave Ocean the biggest hug. The two walk together offstage and took pictures together.

This was a rare outing for Ocean who celebrated his 30th birthday last week. The piano man hosted a Paris Is Burning-inspired birthday party with Tyler, the Creator among the attendees.

Meanwhile, Rubin produced D.R.A.M.'s psychedelic single, "Check Ya Fabrics." The Funkadelic-inspired song features the Virginia native's high-pitched vocals over bass-heavy, flowing production that's amplified by guitar licks. It's good to see that Rubin is still a creative genius in the studio.
