R&B superstar Usher has flown to Brazil to be with his wife after complications from a surgical procedure. The singer canceled his performance at record exec Clive Davis' annual Grammy party Saturday due to the family emergency.

"Her husband Usher is with her at the hospital," his rep said in a statement. "No further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time."

His wife Tameka Foster, 38, was in recovering from plastic surgery when she experienced complications after the operation. Neurosurgeon Dr. Gabriel Hunt of Los Angeles' Cedar Sinai Hospital is also on his way to the South American country.

Foster, who recently gave birth to the couple's second son Naveid Ely Raymond, in December is the mother of five. Their first son Usher Raymond V is a little over a year old. Foster has three other children from a previous relationship.

The two wed in 2007 amid controversy. The singer also fired his mother Jonetta Patton as his manager. Patton did not attend the ceremony and did not approve of the relationship.

In 2008, he released 'Here I Stand' to dismal record sales as stories of his impending break-up with Foster mounted. "I'm very happy and in a great place being a married man," he said in an interview last year.

No word yet on the details surrounding Foster's complications or her surgical procedures. Usher was also no-show at last night's Grammy Awards. David spoke with his mother following the emergency. "My thoughts are with them, whatever they're facing."

Musician Josh Groban took his place at the event.
