Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish Star in New Series ‘The Last O.G.’
Tracy Morgan is finally back on TV after the near-fatal accident that left him hospitalized and comatose for almost 10 days back in 2014. Many people were unsure if Morgan would even pull through and stay alive, let alone act again or do comedy. But thankfully, the resilient comedian did all of the above and soon, he'll be making audience's laugh every week with his innovative and edgy comedic chops.
The Last O.G. is centered around Tray (Morgan), an ex-con who is shocked to see just how much the world has changed when he is released from prison after serving 15 years. Returning to his newly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, he discovers that his former girlfriend Shay, played by Girls Trip actress Tiffany Haddish, has married a white man, played by Ryan Gaul, who is helping raise the twins Tray never knew existed.
Cedric the Entertainer stars as the head of the halfway house where Tray is staying as he helps the ex-con connect with his kids even though he lacks the money to support them. Now, Tray has to lean on the skills he learned in prison to make ends meet in a world completely unfamiliar to him.
But Tracy wants to be clear, expressing passionately that The Last O.G. is not a black show. “We don’t only explore the black community, but humanity,” he told critics at the Television Critics Association press tour Thursday. “It’s not a black show. It’s about humanity — second chances, redemption.”
Executive-producing along with Morgan, is Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele who created the show. The Last O.G. premieres on TBS Thursday, October 24, 2017.
