Tinashe enjoyed a breakout year in 2014, and is looking to build on that momentum in 2015. The music video for her single, "Bated Breath," featured on her debut album, Aquarius, is a pretty good start. The military-inspired clip is breathtaking from the start and features the beautiful songstress dressed in fatigues in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

The visual was filmed by Stephen Garnett (who Tinashe contacted directly to work on the clip) and directed by the singer herself. Her vision for the finished product came out better than one would expect knowing that she spearheaded the creative direction.

"I don’t like to sit around waiting for people to do things for me,” Tinashe stated in an interview with W Magazine. "So when I know my label’s not going to produce music videos, I’ll either make them myself or I’ll find people that I think are cool and reach out to them directly. I’m like, ‘F--- it. I’ll just do it.'"

The Los Angeles native crawls through the desert sand, simulates falling through the air while lying on the crackled ground and sheds tears while thinking of her struggles.

We're just glad this art in motion got to see the light of day, as the nearly nine-minute clip showcases depth when it comes to conceptual aspect of being an artist and furthers her case as the current princess of R&B.
