The LOX lamented on a number of subjects when they visited Hot 97 to chat with Ebro Darden and Cipha Sounds yesterday (Dec. 26). The rap trio talked about New York rap's current state, the radio station's alleged refusal to support artists from the five boroughs and the absence of The Tunnel -- the famed New York night club that served as the scene's hangout spot for the better part of the '90s. The Tunnel isn't coming back, but last night resurrected some of its vibes.

Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P took over Webster Hall to celebrate 'The Trinity' EP, which was released exclusively through iTunes last week. The three rappers showed how old school MCs could still turn up the energy with a few tunnel bangers. Busta Rhymes came onstage to perform his part of 'Ante Up' after the LOX did 'Wild Out.' Jim Jones and Maino made appearances as well.

Perhaps the best part of the night was how the generation gap didn't prevent the old school from supporting some of the new New York artists. Troy Ave, Mack Wilds, Chinx Drugz and Bodega Bamz all had their chance to control the stage. At least the veterans are doing their part to keep the New York spirit alive.
