SZA Nabs Her First No. 1 Hit on Billboard Hot R&B Songs Chart
SZA ends her successful year with a No. 1 single. The R&B sensation nabbed her first chart-topper on the Billboard Hot R&B songs chart with her latest single, “The Weekend.”
The New Jersey native's chart feat also makes her the first woman as a lead artist to top the R&B Songs chart this year following Rihanna who reached No. 1 in October 2016 with her single, “Needed Me.”
The song appears on SZA's debut album Ctrl, which tops our list of the 25 Best R&B Albums of 2017. “The Weekend” is the TDE artist's second straight platinum hit, following her previous single, “Love Galore” featuring Travis Scott.
The 28-year-old singer recently debut the video for “The Weekend,” which was directed by Solange. The visual left fans scratching their heads and criticizing it for not matching with the theme of the song itself.
SZA will be looking for more good fortune in 2017. She garnered five nominations for the 2018 Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Ctrl.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama recently shared on his Facebook page a list of his favorite songs in 2017. And guess what? SZA's "Broken Clocks" is on his list. Peep it below.
Congrats to SZA on all of her achievements in 2017.
