Kid Cudi has friends in high places, and, with his sophomore release in stores next week, has enlisted his A-list friends to help out.

Cudi receive a big boost on his debut album 'Man on the Moon: The End of Day,' when actor Josh Hartnett produced the video for his song 'Pursuit of Happiness.' For his followup LP, 'Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager,' Cudi took things a step further, reportedly landing 'Transformers' star Shia LaBeouf to direct a short film for 'MANIAC,' which features singer-songwriter St. Vincent and indie rapper Cage, both of whom performed with Cudi on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' Wednesday night.

"Yes this is happening!" Cage tweeted yesterday, regarding the short film. 'Day 'N' Nite' producer Dot Da Genius also chimed in, tweeting "side project, we do what we want," with a picture of Cudi holding the video treatment.

LeBeouf previously helmed the video for Cage's 'I Never Knew You,' a twisted take on Cage's song about obsession. Cudi is no stranger to the screen either, appearing in a recurring role on HBO's 'How to Make it in America.'

Kid Cudi's 'Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager' hits stores on Nov. 9.
