Questlove Penning Advice Book About the ‘Eternal Mystery of Creativity’ [PHOTO]
We all know that Questlove is a creative guy. As the co-founder and drummer of The Roots crew, his musical creativity has led him to work with some legendary artists and produced some very creative musical projects. So how did Questo develop such a creative mind? The Philadelphia native will explore that and more in his new book, Creative Quest.
Questlove describes the book as “a guide to living your best life.” The 46-year-old author wants to help you find your own creativity as he shares his own anecdotal stories and experiences from other artists.
Whether discussing his own life or channeling the lessons he’s learned from forefathers such as George Clinton, collaborators like D’Angelo, or like-minded artists including Ava DuVernay, David Byrne, Björk, and others, Questlove speaks with the candor and enthusiasm that fans have come to expect. Creative Quest is many things -- above all, a wise and wide-ranging conversation around the eternal mystery of creativity."
The cover for the book was also revealed (see above). Designed by Reed Barrow, it shows an abstract sculpture of Questlove made out of inanimate objects such as tin cans, his hair pick and candles.
"When it came time to do the cover for this book, what sprung to mind was making a machine about how things spring to mind, and a Rube Goldberg machine was the perfect match," Questlove told Buzzfeed about the artwork. "What else is creativity? It's a brain passing through a million small steps to be able to take one big step."
Questlove is a well-established author. Last year, he released his food book, Exploring Creativity with America's Most Innovative Chefs, in 2015, he wrote his memoir Mo' Meta Blues, and in 2013, he penned a book about the history of Soul Train.
Questlove's new book, Creative Quest, will arrive in bookstores on April 24, 2018 for $28.
