Longtime Eminem collaborator and Detroit hip-hop legend DeShaun "Proof" Holton will be honored at the 4th Annual Candlelight Vigil & Tribute Show in Detroit next week.

Friends and family will gather at the Rosa Parks Freedom Chapel at the Woodlawn Cemetery at 4PM on Monday, April 11, to remember the D12 member, who was shot and killed five years ago after a dispute in a Detroit bar. People will share stories, poetry and words of inspiration about the life of the revered Detroit MC, who was a mentor to many within the Detroit scene, including Eminem. He was also a frequent speaker at local schools, where he attempted to teach children the value of education.

After the vigil, rappers will perform Proof's tracks at a tribute show in his honor at The Shelter, along with performances by Chino XL, Miz Korona, Moe Dirdee, Rio Data, R&B singer Melanie Rutherford and several others, with music provided by DJ Sin, DJ Jewels and DJ Henhouse.

The Proof Foundation is a non-profit organization created by Proof's mother, Pepper Holton. She founded the non-profit in July 2007, in an attempt to continue her son's legacy, and further encourage local children to continue their education, providing financial aid to needy students and sponsoring educational and cultural activities, workshops and field trips.

The Proof Foundation is currently taking applications for its first college scholarship program, available to local high school seniors for the 2011/2012 school year.

There is no word as to whether Eminem or the rest of Proof's fellow D12 members will be taking part in the events, though he did recently release the song 'Difficult' in memory of his friend.
