Nas and Kehlani Confirmed for Lauryn Hill’s ‘Diaspora Calling’ Tour
Nas and Kehlani are officially set to join Lauryn Hill's MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Calling! tour. The North American tour will hit Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and Boston among other cities during its three-month trek.
The tour will eventually head to Japan in late October before returning stateside for shows in San Francisco, Seattle and New Orleans. The outing was spawned from Hill's Diaspora Calling! Music Festival which was held in Brooklyn back in April, and it will feature opening sets from Seun Anikulapo Kuti, Paul Beaubrun and the Soul Rebels.
Of course, Nas and Hill have long shared a strong relationship, cemented by their hit collaboration, "If I Ruled the World," from Nas' 1996 sophomore effort, It Was Written. Nas will play two dates on the tour, Seattle and San Francisco.
Hill says the tour is all about embracing togetherness.
"The MLH Caravan allows me to continue the theme of unity and celebration of the many facets of cultural and artistic beauty throughout the African diaspora while on tour this summer and fall," the singer said in a statement, adding that tour was extra fitting given the tension-filled times. "In these days of tension, tumult and transition, an exchange of this kind can yield direction, expression, understanding and empowerment as well as connection, self Love and appreciation that hopefully overflows into our respective communities."
