Mary J. Blige to Judge ‘American Idol’ Auditions
R&B diva Mary J. Blige will lend her expertise to a bunch of 'American Idol' hopefuls during Season 9 auditions in Atlanta, Ga. The multiple Grammy winner is one of several guest judges stepping in for ousted 'Idol' judge Paula Abdul on the show's upcoming season.
Although producers have released very little information regarding her appearance, the Fox network confirmed that Blige is set to judge two days of auditions. The 38-year-old will join current 'Idol' judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
Since Abdul's departure from the show, producers have been rotating guest judges for the auditions, which usually air during the first few episodes. Abdul's permanent replacement has yet to be announced.
Former pop singer Victoria Beckham finished her stint as a guest judge last week in Boston. Singer Katy Perry is also on par to judge auditions although dates for her appearance have not yet been announced.
Blige, who has sold more than 40 million records worldwide, will release her ninth studio album 'Stronger' this November.
