MadlibMadlib -- the top-notch hip-hop, jazz, dub and everything in-between producer from California -- was ultra-prolific before the era of daily freestyles and releasing three mixtapes at once. Always one to up the ante, he has yet another ambitious project on his hands. Madlib plans to release a new record every month for the next year straight.

"Madlib is launching the Madlib Medicine Show, a once-a-month, twelve-CD, six-LP series," reads a news post on the Stones Throw website. "The Madlib Medicine Show will be a combination of Madlib's new hip-hop productions, remixes, beat tapes, and jazz, as well as mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz ad other undefined forms of music from the Beat Konducta's 4-ton stack of vinyl."

They go on to reiterate that, yes, Madlib does indeed own 4 tons of vinyl. Take that, crate diggers!

Madlib Medicine Show No. 1 is a 17-track album composed of remixes and new material with rapper Guilty Simpson. It's subtitled 'Before The Verdict' and drops in December. Fans should preorder at the Stones Throw site, because these babies are hand-screened and limited edition.

The second in the series (or Madlib Medicine Show No. 2, if you will) will be a mix of Brazilian jazz, funk, prog-rock, folk and psychedelia that's called 'Flight to Brazil.' Later editions will revisit the producer's famed Beat Konducta series and explore Africa.

This is an awesome idea, and we can't wait to see where it ends up. Here's to hoping that one of those twelve will be 'Madvillain 2.'
