Katie Got Bandz Addresses Identity Theft Arrest: ‘Bitch I’m Innocent’ [VIDEO]
Chicago rapper Katie Got Bandz found herself in the news earlier this week after she was arrested for identity theft. According to XXL, Bandz, whose real name is Kiara Johnson, was initially arrested back in June, but missed several court dates related to the case. A judge issued an arrest warrant on Monday (Aug. 7) and Bandz was locked up without bail.
On Wednesday (Aug. 9), Bandz was released from custody after her bail was reduced to $50,000. The 24-year-old rapper then went on social media to announce her freedom and explain her arrest. The "Pop Out" rapper wasn't too thrilled with being arrested and voiced her anger on Twitter. "BITCH I'M INNOCENT. F--- THE STATE," she tweeted.
Bandz then went on her Instagram page to plead her case and claims that she got arrested for not snitching. “Muthaf---as think that somehow I went to jail for stealing somebody’s identity. Y’all got me f---ed up," she said in the video above. "I went to jail for not running my muthaf---in' mouth. I ain’t snitch on a n----, even though a muthaf---a thought they left me hanging.”
“New music coming soon,” she added. “Free Katie The Mixtape dropping too though. Keep it real though. Bitch.”
Bandz went back on Twitter to reiterate that she's not a snitch, tweeting, "THE LAW MAD I WON'T SNITCH I'M NOT NO SELL OUT. I'M FIGHTING A CASE FOR NOT TELLING ON A MF SO YALL CAN SHUT THE F--- UP."
