Jennifer Lopez Covers Prince, Debuts New Song at Pre-Super Bowl Concert [VIDEO]
Jennifer Lopez delivered her own halftime show with her own pre-Super Bowl concert in Minneapolis on Saturday night (Feb. 3).
Since J.Lo was in Prince’s hometown it was only right that she paid homage to the late Purple One during her two-hour show that was aired live on exclusively on DIRECTV NOW and AT&T AUDIENCE Network.
According to Billboard, she performed a medley of Prince’s hits including “When Doves Cry,” “Darling Nikki” and “Let’s Go Crazy.”
Elsewhere in the show, Lopez took a moment to shout out her boyfriend former MLB star Alex Rodriguez. The multi-talented singer revealed to the crowd that they are celebrating their one-year dating anniversary that night.
"We've been together for one year today (Feb. 3). I don't want to get all mushy or anything, but baby, this song's for you. I love you," she said.
It was then that Lopez premiered her Skrillex and Poo Bear collaborative song called "Us," an energetic EDM-based love anthem.
Lopez also covered Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”; danced to Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” and Camila Cabello’s “Havana” and sung a duet with Ne-Yo on “All I Have." Plus, DJ Khaled made a surprise appearance and worked the crowd with his anthemic songs, "All I Do Is Win," "Wild Thoughts" and "I'm the One."
In addition, Lopez showed off eight sexy looks for the night, including a leopard-print catsuit, a white-and-black football jersey and pants and a glittering blue fringe bodysuit, just to name a few.
Lopez closed her concert with an explosive rendition of her club anthem “Let’s Get Loud,” as her scantily-clad dancers shimmied across the stage and pyrotechnics burst in the air.
Overall, Jennifer Lopez delivered an electrifying performance and possibly placed herself in the running for performing at the next Super Bowl halftime show in 2019.
