Gnarls Barkley Celebrates 10th Anniversary of ‘St. Elsewhere’ With ‘Crazy’ Remix
It’s been ten years since Gnarls Barkley released St. Elsewhere and Danger Mouse is celebrating their two-time Grammy Award-winning album with an unreleased remix of their biggest hit “Crazy.”
Danger Mouse dug deep in the vault and dropped a slower version of the track. Whereas the original version featured glaring bass and vibrant sounds, this remixed version is like a whisper--with it’s dialed down production and smooth acoustic guitar. With a soft loop of synchronized humming in the background, Cee Lo Green sings the lyrics: “Maybe I’m crazy?/ Maybe you’re crazy?/ Maybe were crazy…Possibly.”
Danger described the track as “weird remix I did back in 2006 that got rejected by the label.” Along with dropping the remix he also shared images from 2006 studio sessions with Cee Lo, the Gorillaz and more. “Crazy” was officially released on March 13, 2006 and peaked at No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped the charts in more than five countries. The song went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2007.
