The 2018 FYF Fest With Janet Jackson and Future Has Been Canceled
The 2018 FYF Fest, which was to be headlined by Janet Jackson and Future, has been canceled due to poor ticket sales according to Billboard.
Festival owners Goldenvoice and AEG Live are reportedly making the difficult decision to shut down the annual Los Angeles event, which began in 2004.
The two-day festival, which would have marked their 15th anniversary, was set to take place on July 21-22 at L.A.'s Exposition Park. Other performers on the bill included Skepta, Kali Uchis, Daniel Caesar and The Internet.
Although the event was only two-and-a-half months away, dismal ticket sales in April forced organizers to pull the plug. According to Billboard, AEG officials have reportedly started the process of contacting fans who have bought tickets and provided them with refund information.
"After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel FYF Fest 2018," reads an email sent out to ticket buyers. "Our team of many women and men have worked tirelessly on this event for many years but felt unable to present an experience on par with the expectations of our loyal fans and the Los Angeles music community this year."
If Jackson and Future did performed at the event, they would have followed last year's headliners Missy Elliott and Frank Ocean. In fact, Janet was in the audience watching Missy perform at the 2017 FYE Fest. On the second day, Ocean serenaded long-time fan Brad Pitt during his set.
This is disappointing news for Janet Jackson fans who are eager to see her this summer on her festival run. As it stands right now Janet is headlining New York's Panorama Festival, Essence Fest and the Outside Lands festival.
