Eminem Let the NRA Have It During His Performance at the iHeartMusic Awards
Eminem is no stranger to voicing his political opinions, and at his appearance at the iHeartMusic Awards last night, he decided to go in on the NRA.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that a gun control debate is major hot topic in American politics following the deadly Parkland school shooting that claimed 17 lives. Eminem took a moment to let everyone know that he stands with the kids who've been protesting for stricter gun control, including more stringent background checks and a ban on AR-15s.
Em, who performed "Nowhere Fast" with Kehlani from his most recent album, Revival, was introduced by fellow Detroit rapper, Big Sean and a survivor of the Parkland shooting, Alex Moscou.
"We're tired of hearing politicians send their thoughts and prayers to us, and doing nothing to make the necessary changes to prevent this tragedy from happening again," Moscou said. "If those elected to represent won't do what's right to keep us safe, we're going to be too loud for them to ignore."
The veteran rapper added an extra verse to the song, rapping: "This whole country is going nuts/ And the NRA is in our way/ They’re responsible for this whole production/ They hold the strings, they control the puppet.”
