Diddy Files $2.5 Million Suit Against Clothing Store Landlord
Sean "Diddy" Combs is fed up with the construction at his clothing line's flagship store and is suing the landlord for more than $2 million. According to TMZ.com construction materials at the New York City Sean John store are obstructing the view of products within the store, resulting in a 50 percent drop in sales. The suit alleges that the building owners, 475 Fifth 09 LLC, installed scaffolding on the sidewalk back in 2006 that has yet to be removed.
Located on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, an area known for several high-end fashion stores, Combs' company Christian Casey LLC began leasing the ground floor of the unit in August 2003. The once $660,000 rent has ballooned to $913,594.16. Combs' lawyers are claiming the current conditions breach the terms of the lease and are requesting $2.5 million in damages and to be released from their rental contract, which is set to end in 2016.
Founded in 1998, Sean Jean is reportedly worth $300 million.
