Diddy takes the top spot on the Forbes' list of the highest-paid hip-hop artists and successfully dethrones another hip-hop mogul who's best known these days for his headphones and album delays.

The Bad Boy leader took home a cool $50 million during the past year and as you might expect, the music side of his career was just a drop in the bucket of his revenue. Diddy also has his own clothing line (Sean John) and ad agency (Blue Flame) while serving as the brand ambassador for Ciroc vodka.

All that paper moved Dr. Dre, who was number one last year, down not just one but two spots to third. He earned a very respectable $40 million during the past 12 months, but it wasn't enough to best Jay Z. He made $43 million and, as we previously reported, topped the highest-paid celebrity couples list alongside his wife, Beyonce.

You can peep the top five below and read the full feature over at Forbes.

1. Diddy ($50 million)
2. Jay Z ($43 million)
3. Dr. Dre ($40 million)
4. Nicki Minaj ($29 million)
5. Birdman ($21 million)
