A 24-year-old man who toured and played bass with Lauryn Hill was found dead in his car Tuesday night (Jan. 12) in Oakland. Dewey Tucker was reportedly on his way to rehearse with his band when he was fatally shot. Police officials have yet to name a suspect. "We believe this is a random act of senseless violence, and that Mr. Tucker was at the wrong place at the wrong time," Sergeant Trent Cross told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Tucker was a member of the political hip hop group The Coup and was on his way to meet up with the Oakland-based outfit. "He lived music, 24 hours a day," his mother, Shirley Tucker told the Chronicle. "He said his mind was always on the music. He woke up in the morning playing music and went to bed playing music. A young, gifted, sweet man is gone and we'll probably never know why."
