Bad Meets Evil, Bruno Mars On a Quest in ‘Lighters’ Video

Eminem, Royce da 5'9" and Bruno Mars join forces in the visuals for 'Lighters,' the second single off the rappers' -- who rhyme as the duo Bad Meets Evil -- 'Hell: The Sequel' EP.

Mars, one-third of the Smeezingtons, the production team who crafted the beat alongside Marshall Mathers, opens the clip. Donning shades and playing a gentle tune on a piano, the crooner sings the chorus, "This one's for you and me, living out our dreams/ We're all right where we should be/ Lift my arms out wide, I open my eyes/ And now all I wanna see is a sky full of lighters..."

A frustrated Em then appears on a couch, writing lyrics before he escapes into an underground tunnel on a quest to find the light at the end of it. "People don't usually come back this way/ From a place that was dark as I was in, just to get to this place/ Now let these words be like a switch blade to a haters rib cage," the Detroit native rhymes.

It's apparent the message here is a positive one: leave the dark and negative behind and move toward the glowing and positive. At the close of the video, Royce, who is locked in a jail cell, plans his exit from behind bars and searches for his way to a better place as well. "I went from having my city locked up to getting treated like Kwame Kilpatrick/ And now I'm fantastic," he raps.
