A little hip-hop, a little R&B and a whole 'lot of nostalgia. That's what a lot of people saw last night (Dec. 5) when they tuned in to a new version of Showtime at the Apollo, which was hosted by Steve Harvey and aired on Fox.

If you're old enough to remember or you've caught some of the reruns, then you know that Showtime at the Apollo was an incredibly popular series that began in 1987. The idea was to make a TV version of the long running Amateur Night that takes place in the Harlem theater on Wednesday nights.

For last night's show, some of the biggest names in music hit the stage like Anderson .Paak, T.I., and Flo Rida. Plus, Rakim and Busta Rhymes wowed the crowed, along with Swizz Beatz, Bell Biv Devoe, Jodeci, Ashanti, Ja Rule and En Vogue, who sung their 1992 smash "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)."

Clearly, bringing back Showtime was a logical move for Harvey since he hosted the original show from 1993-2000.

"I'm excited to be going back home to the Apollo to celebrate the history of this great theater," he said earlier this year. "I have great memories from my time there, and this is going to be a homecoming party that you won't want to miss."

Reportedly, another Showtime at the Apollo special will be airing on Fox in early 2017, and there might be a full-on relaunch of the show further down the road.
