Akon and Lonely Island ‘Had Sex’ at Emmys — Watch
Akon and Michael Bolton performed with Lonely Island -- Andy Samberg's 'SNL' comedy troupe -- at the Jane Lynch-hosted 63rd Annual Emmy Awards last night (Sept. 18), adding some over-the-top comic relief to the evening.
Decked out in white dinner jackets, the Lonely Island trio, comprised of Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, ran through a medley of their popular 'Saturday Night Live' skits, aided by some hilarious and random special guests, bumping-and-grinding male backup dancers in body suits, lasers and a giant American flag.
Samberg and co. opened with 'Jack Sparrow,' accompanied by a grey-haired Michael Bolton in pirate garb, then segued into '3-Way,' with John Stamos and Ed Helms sandwiching fellow 'SNL' cast member Maya Rudolph -- who replaced Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Samberg, who performed in the original sketch. Akon then hit the stage, belting out his part on 'I Just Had Sex,' a sketch that was nominated for the Original Song Emmy, to round out the performance.
"Wack excellence," Samberg deadpanned, closing out the affair.
