Jay-Z, ‘Open Letter’ — New Song

Brace yourselves -- a brand new Jay-Z single is here, co-produced by Swizz Beats and Timbaland. "Open Letter" begins as a creeping, simplistic beat and transforms into one of Hova's most honest moments.

Controversy has been circling the rapper since his trip to Cuba with wife Beyonce last week. Many conservatives in Congress wondered how two prominent Americans could have traveled to the embargoed country without expressed permission.

"Politicians never did shit for me/except lie to me, distort history."

Jay blasts political skeptics who wanted a full investigation of the power couple's vacation in Havana. But wait, there's more ...

"They wanna give me jail time and a fine -- Fine, Let me commit a real crime Obama said, "Chill you're going to get me impeached'/You don't need this shit Anyway, chill with me on the beach."

That's not all the rapper has to say in his "Open Letter." Jay-Z's also been accused of abandoning his native Brooklyn after selling his shares in the New York borough's NBA team, The Nets.

"I woulda moved the Nets to Brooklyn for free/Except I made millions off you fucking dweebs/I still own the building, I'm still keeping my seats/You buy that bullshit, you better keep your receipts."

Jay-Z recently signed the Yankees' Robinson Cano to the new sports management arm of Roc Nation. The Brooklyn rapper also wants to represent basketball stars, which forces him to relinquish shares in any NBA team.

Jay throws a few other subtle barbs in the short but reference-heavy single. Hell, he even claims to be the Bob Dylan of rap. And when you think about it -- his idiosyncratic, non-rhythmic, lazy style coupled with Jay's cultural important to hip-hop -- that sort of makes sense. But hey, we know why you're here.
