The Weeknd Debuts Short Film for ‘Belong to the World’

MTV

The Weeknd stays having some of the most alluring visuals in music. After taking us on an Anime-styled sexual trip in ‘Kiss Land,’ Abel Tesfaye invites us deeper into his gloomy thoughts — and also into Japan’s underbelly — in the video-come-short film for ‘Belong to the World.’ The track will appear on his upcoming second major label album, ‘Kiss Land.’

Some fans might recognize ‘Belong to the World’s sample of Portishead’s ‘Machine Gun,’ which band member Geoff Barrow isn’t too pleased about. According to Barrow, the group refused The Weeknd’s request to sample said song, but it appears he’s gone ahead and used it anyway. Tut tut.
