As he prepares for his new, sexy album, R. Kelly is opening up. The usually-private singer shares the journey of his forthcoming 'Black Panties' LP in a promo visual for the project.

The crooner explains that the title of his album comes from (where else?) his freaky fans' underwear. A year ago, a woman threw a pair of black panties at Kellz while he was singing onstage and he knew it was a sign.

The veteran singer also explains the album's inspiration. He says that he studied the current state of music, gaining inspiration from both rappers and singers to help drive the direction of 'Black Panties.'

“To really get myself back in to the mode of R. Kelly, Kells, and in order for to do that I had to really listen and go to school in my studio by looking at what’s happening now, from rappers to singers, and what I’ve found by doing that, is they’ve really been studying me," he shares.

'Black Panties' is slated for a Dec. 10 release. “So proud of this next album I have to share with ya'll... It's official - #BlackPanties dropping on Tuesday, December 10th,” he wrote in a caption on Instagram. What was the image? A photo of the lauded singer behind the boards in the studio.
