Frank Ocean’s ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ to be Released on Friday—Probably
Frank Ocean's trolling may finally be over.
The New York Times is reporting that his album will arrive on Friday (Aug. 5) with an exclusive release through Apple Music.
Ocean may be taking a page from Beyonce's book as well, by releasing a "major video" along with the album, according to the news site. An accompanying printed publication of the same name is also reportedly slated to be released through Apple stores.
An anonymous source also shared with the NY Times that Spotify and Tidal members will have to wait a bit before streaming the album— it will be on Apple Music for two weeks before it's available on other streaming sites.
The forthcoming album has had a number of confirmed and rumored release dates that have drove Ocean's loyal fans mad. In July 2015, the 28-year-old hinted that it would appear that month. There were also rumors that it was dropping in July 2016, but when the month ended with no new music, fans grew weary again. Hope came back yesterday (Aug. 1) though, when Ocean's site began airing a mysterious video stream. The “livesteam” was reportedly just a looped video directed by Francisco Soriano, who shot the video for Ocean’s “Lost” back in 2013.
It's been four years since Ocean’s debut album, channel ORANGE, hit our earbuds. Now it seems that we'll finally get Ocean's long-awaited sophomore album.
Our fingers are crossed, but we're not holding our breath.
