Royce Da 5’9 Clarifies His Drake Statement: ‘I’m Not Going to Keep Explaining’
“I don’t think there’s anything to clarify,” states Royce. “If you look at the interview, I said that the way that he [Drake] creates is a dope way of creating. I said I personally get fulfillment from writing.”
In the previous interview, Royce explained why he could never employ ghostwriters.
“It’s a newer way of creating...I guess hip-hop is evolving a little slower than other genres. And of this is what it’s evolving into, as a OG, I accept it and it’s my decision to chose whether I wanna work like that or not.” He adds, “It’s a certain fulfillment that I get out of writing myself. But I do understand going out partying, staying in tune with what’s going on outside of the studio. And then you come back…and you A&R the whole shit and you produce the whole song, that’s a still a beast. That’s a beastly ass way of working. I just get fulfillment out of writing."
In re-emphasizing his point, the Slaughterhouse member said, “I’m not going to keep explaining myself. I’ve been in the game for over 15 years. I don’t have to explain myself to anybody.” A well-timed backlash and social media prologue to the April 18th release of his forthcoming album Layers, don't ya think?
