Ray J Pleads Not Guilty to Sexual Battery, Resisting Arrest
Ray J pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual battery and resisting arrest during a hearing on Tuesday (Aug. 19). The singer's charges stem from his drunken behavior on May 30 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The accusations against Ray J include him being belligerent at the hotel bar and groping a woman. When confronted, the 'I Wish' creator allegedly spat on an officer, which led to his arrest. Once in custody, police say that Ray J kicked out a window while cuffed in the backseat of a police cruiser. The entertainer admitted he kicked out the window but only because he was in a state of panic due to claustrophobia.
Ray J is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 28, the Associated Press reports.
We might learn more about his legal case when 'Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood' premieres next month. Ray J, Soulja Boy and Omarion are among the stars featured on the VH1 program. 'LHHH' will debut on Sept. 15 at 8PM ET.
