A Seattle success story or the guys who put Minneapolis rap on the map?

We know what you’re thinking: “How the hell is Macklemore an O.G.?” Don’t get it twisted, Macklemore’s no overnight success. If you’re familiar with Seattle’s local rap scene you know that the former “Professor Macklemore” has paid his dues and has been at it since the early 2000s. Humorous, self-effacing and a great live performer, Macklemore is the little local rap act that blew up.

You can’t talk about indie rap and the Midwest without mentioning Slug and Ant. As Atmosphere, they have been giving fans enthralling emotive music for years now. Not only did they make a lane for themselves but they helped buoy a local scene with the wildly successful Rhymesayers label, which has grown into a hub for great artists from across the country. From rocking college radio to performing in local markets where other rappers seldom went, Atmosphere showed us all what indie hustling was all about.

Voting for this round closes on Thursday Oct. 31 at 3:59PM ET. Fans can vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure that your favorite indie rap act wins.
