Fresh off of going the solo route without his partner Ryan Lewis, Macklemore spoke with Zane Lowe for Apple Music on Wednesday and premiered his latest song, “Marmalade.”

Teaming up with Lil Yachty, the two rap over a beat similar to the “Broccoli” instrumental. During his interview with Lowe, Macklemore praised Lil Boat for his originality, saying, “Yachty to me is super dope… I think that he brings a new young voice to the game and is completely himself and not afraid to do him.”

The Seattle rapper also revealed a few details about his yet-to-be-named upcoming album.

“I always try to give a different palette of sounds and textures and vibes. [With] this album… I was in a good place man," he said. "There’s some darker songs, for sure, but, for the most part, like, if I’m in a happy place and life is good, then that’s gonna be reflected on the album.”

As for his relationship with Lewis, Macklemore says there’s no bad blood between the two.

“Ryan and I had worked together for 10 years,” he said. “It was a mutual decision. Back about a year ago, we were like, let’s take some space.”
