Although Drake had issues with his tour, Kanye West successfully launched his Yeezus tour at Seattle’s Key Arena Saturday night (Oct. 19). Yeezy brought his theatrics for his two-hour spectacle that included mountains, scantily-clad female dancers and a guest appearance by Jesus Christ. Yes, the Holy Ghost was in the building.
According to reports, the G.O.O.D. Music leader performed a 27-song religious-themed set that included first-time live performances of ‘Hold My Liquor,’ ‘Guilt Trip,’ ‘I Am a God’ and ‘I’m In It’ from the ‘Yeezus’ album. In addition, West performed a myriad of hits from his expansive catalogue including ‘Power,’ ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing,’ ‘Street Lights,’ ‘Cold,’ ‘New Slaves,’ ‘Black Skinheads’ and more.
West went through several costume changes as well. One of the most elaborate costumes was a black diamond mask that he donned while performing ‘Cold,’ ‘Blood on the Leaves’ and ‘I’m a God.’
The highlight of the night ultimately was the guest appearance of Jesus Christ, himself. “I didn’t come here to make bad people feel good, I came here to make dead people alive,” the Almighty told Yeezy. “To show people the love. That all I needed from you. To show people the love.”
Later, the fake Jesus ascended atop the mountain as West bowed before him during his performance of ‘On Sight.’
Overall, Kanye West had church at the Key Arena and it wasn’t even Sunday.
Thank God for Yeezus!
