Kanye West paid loving tribute to his late mother, Donda West, on what would have been her 67th birthday. The hip-hop star tweeted a photo of he and his mom, with a few words for her and about his daughter, North.

"NORI ASKED IF THE AIRPLANE COULD TAKE HER TO HEAVEN TO SEE YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY," Kanye tweeted. "I LOVE YOU MOM."

West has coped with the loss of his mother by allowing her life and death to influence his work and his love for his family. Kanye’s 2014 collaboration with Paul McCartney, “Only One,” was a song that West says is a tribute to his daughter North sung to Kanye from the perspective of his deceased mother.

Kanye is also currently developing a video game titled “Only One” for mobile users that features his mother as the main character and gamers will be tasked with the challenge of helping Donda West arrive at heaven’s gate.

Donda West passed in 2007 from complications during a cosmetic surgery procedure. Her death led to the passing of the Donda West Law, a chartered bill that would prohibit the performance of an elective cosmetic surgery procedure on a patient unless, within 30 days prior to the procedure, the patient has received an appropriate physical examination and received written clearance from a licensed physician and surgeon.
