When Kanye West expressed his disdain over a 2009 'South Park' episode that featured him singing a song called 'Gay Fish,' it was apparent the 'Runaway' rhymer had issues with critics poking fun at his sexuality. Perhaps West is now running with the joke as he is rumored to be taking on the role of a gay man in a new film.

According to MediaTakeOut.com, the 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' creator has signed on to star in a film centered around a jazz band in 1939. The Chi-town MC will reportedly play one of the band's gay members. Though the movie's title hasn't been revealed, it's set to be funded by West's 'H.A.M.' collaborator Jay-Z and actor Will Smith. Even Oprah Winfrey is rumored to have helped foot the film's $20 million bill.

The gossip site has also reported that the film's script won nine awards, including the Oscars' Nicholl Award, a competition for screenplays.
