Jennifer Lopez to Star in Latin Version of ‘American Idol’
As she concludes her highly successful debut season as a panelist on 'American Idol,' Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony have signed on to judge a Latin version of the show called 'Q'Viva! The Chosen,' produced by 'Idol' mastermind Simon Fuller.
The tri-lingual show pairs the couple with director-choreographer Jamie King, who will join them on an "epic three-month-long journey" across the Americas, visiting small villages and major cities alike, auditioning contestants of all nationalities for the show, which is intended to be "one of the greatest celebrations of Latin culture that the world has ever seen," according to the press document.
"This is a show for the 21st century with an unprecedented global and local story," J.Lo explained. "The Latin culture is a tapestry that is rich in passion, tradition and artistry. We are going to places where all of this talent lives and wouldn't have otherwise been discovered. This journey for me and Marc is going to be exciting and groundbreaking."
'Q'Viva' will be simultaneously broadcast across 21 countries in North America, Central America and South America, via an as-yet-unrevealed network.
"I am really excited about this new endeavor with Jamie and Jennifer," Marc Anthony said of his participation on the show. "Throughout my travels around the world, I have witnessed and encountered an amazing amount of undiscovered talent. 'Q' Viva!' would provide an outlet to a whole new generation that have been waiting to have their voices heard."
