HipHopDX reports that Freddie Gibbs (born Fredrick Tipton) is appealing an order for him to be extradited. Last week, French courts ordered the Gary, Indiana rapper to be extradited to Austria to face rape accusations, though he has not actually been charged with a crime. Gibbs and his lawyers have repeatedly denied the accusations.

“He categorically denies the allegations made against him by Austria and is even very surprised that Austria is taking this on a year later, just as he is on tour in Europe,” one of Gibb's lawyers, Michael Malka, previously stated.

The move to appeal the extradition was expected. Last week, it was reported that Gibbs had 72 hours to do so.

"Mr. Freddie Gibbs has appealed," one of Gibbs' lawyers, Theodore Simon, said in a statement obtained by HipHopDX. "He will continue to abide by all terms and conditions set by the Court as he pursues every available avenue to demonstrate he is absolutely innocent and has been belatedly and wrongly accused. To be clear and accurate, Freddie Gibbs has not, we reiterate, Freddie Gibbs has not been charged with any offense. An investigation is continuing. Mr. Gibbs remains hopeful that a thorough and searching investigation will reveal the actual facts, including the absence of any scientific, physical, or credible evidence implicating him, thereby paving the way for his exoneration and return to his family and one-year-old child."

Gibbs, however, remains cooperative with law enforcement officers through counsel and says he will continue to do so. The 34 year-old rapper has since canceled all of his scheduled appearances in Europe and Canada and is currently out on bail after he was taken into custody on June 2, prior to a show in Toulouse, France.
