With a critically acclaimed debut album and an intercontinental tour, FKA twigs has been having a solid 2014. The momentum continues for the singer, who's been nominated for a 2014 Mercury Prize.

Twig's 'LP1' is one of the 12 albums in the running for the award this year. The prize is open to British and Irish acts who have released albums over the past 12 months. More than 220 entries were reviewed before the final shortlist of nominees was created.

Other artists competing for the win include Damon Albarn, Bombay Bicycle Club, Anna Calvi and Royal Blood. Past winners have included The xx, James Blake, Arctic Monkeys and Dizzee Rascal.

The shortlist is chosen by a panel of critics, DJs, artists and other music industry bigwigs, who will also vote for the winner. On Oct. 29, the winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Roundhouse in London and will be awarded an estimated $32,000.

Congrats to FKA twigs.
