Fetty Wap, whose 'Trap Queen' anthem is bringing the rapper national attention, lost his grandfather today (Jan.9). He took to his Instagram account to share the devastating news.

"My grandpa past this morning," he wrote. "I don't really have a feeling to describe, I just wanna drill everything, but I no he want better from me. SMH why you have to go pop. RIP Papa."

Recently, Fetty signed a deal with Lyor Cohen's new imprint, 300 Entertainment and debuted the follow-up to his trap anthem, 'RGF Island.'

Hopefully, this tragic news won't knock the rising rapper off course too much, especially now that things are just starting to pop for him. The New Jersey native joins our list of 10 Rappers to Pay Attention to in 2015, so the new year is his for the taking.

Our condolences definitely go out to Fetty Wap and his family.
